I grew up in Durham, NC and currently live in Raleigh, where I teach music in Wake County Public School System. I have two grown daughters, Maggie and Anna, and live with my partner, Mark.
I have been blessed to have grown up in, and been inspired by a family that is not only artistic, but also have a love of nature. They taught me to find beauty and solace in the arts, as well as the flora and fauna of our beautiful state. My father gave me my first art “lessons” when I was pretty young, and it seems I have been painting ever since. I prefer acrylics and watercolors and my favorite subjects are created from places that impacted me and are in what I call my “visual awe bank”. Admittedly, I am a total cloud “geek”, which is prevalent in my work.
I am not formally trained as an artist and consider art a passion not a vocation. Over the last 40+ yearsI have exhibited art in various short term events, but have donated or given away far more than I ever sold. From fundraising raffles to murals on the wall of a school in Belize, art has been a joyful thread woven through my life. Through it all, the most gratification I get from my art is the opportunity to create unique pieces for people I love.
I consider the Owl and Rabbit to be my first “real gig” and I am so excited to share my art in a space with so many amazing, creative people. I hope my work will remind you of a special place that gave you a sense of awe.
