As a young girl, I would go to the fabric store with my mother and become mesmerized by all the different prints and patterns covering the different textiles. I wanted to take them all home and create pillows, drapes, clothes and anything I could imagine. It seemed inevitable that textile design would become my passion. Nature serves as the inspiration for most of my designs. Nature is the best example of naturally occurring pattern and works well as repeat designs. My design process is created from hand carpet linoleum blocks, sketches, and paintings. The art of carving the blocks is as enjoyable to me as printing with them. I am driven to design functional work and things people can enjoy in their everyday lives.
